Government Support for NSW Businesses and Individuals

With much of NSW now in a state of lockdown, it’s important for impacted businesses to consider what financial assistance is available. These NSW Government measures include the following and are tax-free payments:

1. NSW COVID-19 Support Grant, up to $15,000 available (period up to 17 July 2021)

  • Have an ABN and GST registered on or before 1 June 2021
  • Be physically located in NSW, with turnover of at least $75,000
  • Decline in turnover for minimum 2-week period from 26 June 2021 to 17 July 2021, compared with same period in 2019 or 2020
  • Maintain employee headcount as of 13 July 2021
  • $15,000 for 70% decline in turnover
  • $10,500 for 50% decline in turnover
  • $7,500 for 30% decline in turnover

2. NSW JobSaver Grant, up to $100,000 per week available (period 18 July 2021 onwards)

  • Have an ABN and GST registered on or before 1 June 2021
  • Be physically located in NSW, with turnover of at least $75,000 up to $50 million
  • Be impacted by COVID-19 restrictions
  • 30% Decline in turnover for minimum 2-week period from 26 June 2021 to 28 August 2021, compared with same period in 2019 or 2020
  • Maintain employee headcount as of 13 July 2021
  • For employing businesses, minimum payment of $1,500 and maximum of $100,000 per week based on 40% of pre lockdown wages
  • For non-employing businesses, payment of $1,000 per week.

3. Micro Business Grant of $1,500 per fortnight

  • Annual Turnover of between $30,000 and $75,000
  • 30% Decline in turnover for minimum 2-week period from 26 June 2021 to 28 August 2021, compared with same period in 2019 or 2020
  • Impacted by Covid-19 restrictions

There is also Federal Government COVID-19 Disaster payments available to individuals who have lost 8 or more hours per week due to the current COVID-19 restrictions. Payments were increased from 2 August 2021 to $450 (between 8 and 20 hours lost) and $750 (20 hours or more lost) per week. Your employees can still receive these payments even if your business is receiving any of the above grants.
